What better way to get back into blogging than linking up with an end-of-the-year linky party??  Go on over to Primary Inspiration by clicking the picture below and check out all of the great activities posted on the linky party and also on her awesome site! Lots of great ideas over there!

I'm posting over there my end-of-the-year writing project for my firsties that they did for the Kindergarten classes.  They started this writing project last week, called "How To Be a First Grader".  We got to review our "how-to" writing using transitional words and we brainstormed lots of different things that make first grade so much different than kindergarten.  Then, the first graders wrote a "how-to" for being a first grader so that they can either read to some K classes or we are going to copy all the pages and give one packet to each class when we are done.  The kids came up with some great things...such as "First, you need to be a bucket filler.  You can be a bucket filler by being nice."  "Next, you need to move your clip up to the top by being good because if you move it down by being bad then Ms. Schifano will call your parents and you don't want that."  And other good advice that the K's need to know before their year in first grade!  We can't wait to share them with the K classes this week!

ANOTHER end-of-the-year activity that I have is an end-of-the-year election!
Students get to vote for who they think would be the perfect fit for different categories, such as best listener, most organized, etc. (like year-book superlatives).  I use these for handing out awards at our graduation party.

Enjoy and have a great end of the year!!
